I love fruit but normally don’t like my fruit with my veggies. It’s kinda like when some kids get squeamish when their peas touch their mash potatoes on a plate. Go figure. It all goes down the same pipe. And let’s get one thing clear, I HATE iced tea. Never, ever drink it. (Well, at least I thought I hated it.) However, Wendy’s and its new Berry Almond Chicken salad paired with a delicious wild berry iced tea, has taught an old-school girl like me to never say never again!
This past weekend, I met up with a great group of blogging mamas and their kids to try Wendy’s Berry Almond Chicken Salad which featured fresh, tangy, plump blueberries; fresh California strawberries; California almonds roasted with sea salt; shaved Asiago cheese; and a warm grilled chicken breast. Topping it off was some delicious yet fat-free raspberry vinaigrette dressing, including the nutrient-rich juice of the acai berry.
This salad was yummy and refreshing on a hot steamy summer day. It was very good. It totally makes sense to top some delicious berries onto a salad bed with a sweet raspberry dressing. This is the kind of salad that would make your kids totally love to eat their greens. And when I saw a picture of a cold tall glass of wild berry iced tea, my mouth really started salivating. My first thought was “no, I don’t like tea.” Then I thought I’d give it a try. With the mix of wild berries, I knew it would likely be a winner. And it really was. The tea was very delicious. Sweet and flavorful. I could drink it all day every day.
And check this: I not only drank it but I went back and got a second wild berry iced tea drink before I left! And EVEN MORE, that same night I left my house drove 20 minutes to my nearest Wendy’s around 10 p.m. and ordered two Berry Almond Chicken salads for me and my husband and two more teas! I just couldn’t get enough.
I am truly delighted with Wendy’s Berry Almond Chicken salad and it’s a refreshing choice for me, and works right into my diet plan. Speaking of diets and calories, a full-sized Berry Almond Chicken Salad boasts a complete, one-cup serving of fruit.
