Can a black child raised in a white home really get a sense of who are are and from whence they came?
You know I would have thought maybe not, until that is, Barack Obama came along. Mr. President has a great sense of his culture and appreciates it, even though he was raised by his white mother and grandparents. And we appreciate him.
Angelina Jolie says she teaches her kids about their different cultures and they all learn from each other. Okay J. I’m gonna go ahead and give you an A for effort for this one.
So today, Shoutout to Angelina and Brad for being such good, hands on parents who take the time to TEACH!
You can’t knock a mom who is trying and you especially can’t knock her for even adopting such a big, eclectic brood.
I’m glad she is trying to educate them all about their history. The actress, 36, adopted three of her children – Maddox, 9, from Cambodia; Pax, 7, from Vietnam; and Zahara, 6, from Ethiopia – and gave birth to Shiloh, 5, in Namibia, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 3, in France.
Even more, she really take it a step further when going them their cultural lessons. Cambodian-born son Maddox and Pax, the younger brother, like to munch on the chirpy insect – crickets because they are common in their culture.
According to Jolie, she brought the children to Cambodia so that they would be able to understand it and not be turned off about something that actually belongs to their culture.
-I don’t know about that one!
They don’t have to experience every nook and crannie of their culture. In Ethopia they practice female gender mutilation. Is Jolie going to let Zahara experience that? I think not!
But here’s the dying question: Who in the world does that black baby’s hair! C’mon Angelina. Take her to South Central somewhere to get some braids with some beads on the ends or something!!
