Summertime is just the right time for a picnic in the park. And what better way than to get the party started off right than with some chips and dip and lunch with friends.
I know I always have a bag of Lay’s on deck to get the party mood in motion. But as much as I love to cook and create new twists on my meals, I have never tried to do something as simple as making my OWN dip creation!
So when I met up for lunch with mommy bloggers Alicia, Renee, Piera, Amy and Heather at Atlanta Station, I had my bags of Frito Lays’ Classic Potato Chips, Tostitos tortillas, Tostitos Scoops and Fritos Corn Chips and whipped together the most delicious Avocado and Lime Black Bean dip (if I do say so myself).
Delicious and easy on my love handles, this dip took all of 10 minutes to make (recipe below). I got the recipe right off the Frito Lay’s website where you can find a bunch of yummy recipes, just like the other ladies did. I paired my dip with the Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortillas and oh my I have to say for those who know me when I say I really LOVE something, I really absolutely mean it, right?
Well, well, well, these chips will luxuriate all over your taste buds! They have this wonderfully slightly tangy LIME taste that just pops and tastes so good. To put it in perspective, I felt like sucking on the chips, but I think the other blogger moms would have given me the side eye. These chips are truly that tasty. So they were PERFECTLY paired with my Avocado and Lime Black Bean dip, (and I think it would be perfectly paired with a margarita too!) The Scoops also worked perfectly with this particular dip because this dip is layered and you have to dig a bit to get to the black beans, so I found the Scoops to be a great complement to a layered dip.
All the ladies made some really delectable dips, like Renee Ross’s Oyster Dip that I ate with Lay’s Classic Chips and I think it was Amy who made the Simple Mango Salsa with cilantro, that kept me coming back for more. Piera also made a yummy Hummus I never tasted hummus before and I’m now a fan! At the end of our lunch with chips and dip I could not believe I was actually FULL too!
These chips and the dip are not only good, but good for you. Check this out:
- Not all chips are created equal! When entertaining, look for chips made with simple ingredients, like Lay’s Classic potato chips, made with potatoes, healthier oil and salt and tostitos Scoops! Tortilla chips made with corn, healthier oils and salt.
- Use your favorite chips as a vehicle to scoop up extra nutrition by pairing them with healthier dips, like black bean dip or veggie filled salsa.
- Frito-Lay’s snack chips contain less sodium than most people think. For example, a one-ounce serving of Tostitos tortilla chips has less sodium than a cup of plain yogurt!
I talked so much about the blogger lunch that now this weekend, I am having a “perfect pairing” lunch with my own family! On the menu- of course my Avocado dip, but I’m going to make the Classic Spinach Artichoke Dip I found on the Frito Lay’s recipe website and since my husband wants me to make something with chicken in it, I’m going to try and make the Pineapple Chicken Scoop and I may even try the Simple Mango Salsa, that Amy made because it was so delish!
I can’t wait to try these new recipes with my favorite Frito Lay’s chips with my favorite people!
Disclosure: Frito-Lay provided me with chips and ingredients to make my recipe. But my opinions are all my own. Thank you to Frito Lay and the Motherhood for sponsoring the chat & chew.
