Rising Above It: Divorced and Figuring Out My New Life #WomenRiseAboveIt

This post is brought to you by the makers of Pine-Sol® Products. I have partnered with them to spread the word about the ‘When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It’ campaign and sweepstakes. To enter the sweepstakes, visit  www.womenRiseAboveIt.com. All opinions and stories are my own.

When people see me now with a bustling house full of kids, as a happy and content wife who jet-sets across the country on blogger trips, they don’t know the back story that got me here.

They don’t see the tears I cried and the adversities I went through and the strength I had to muster up to make it to this point. While life is pretty golden now, there was a time when things were grim. I’m happily married now but I can remember the dark days when I was going through my first marriage that ended in divorce and there was a really bad time where I was alone raising my first child, struggling hard, moving from city to city to secure jobs and I was trying hard to find myself and my place in a tough world that had no mercy on a young, clueless woman who couldn’t find her place in it. I had to figure out my new life and eventually I did. Times were really tough but I rose above it!

Believing in me was enough to keep me grounded and because of that today I am living the dream; I remarried, have great kids and I am able to inspire other women through this blog and other social media platforms that you too can rise above the challenges and adversities that life dishes out to you!

And I am proud to announce that I am a Pine-Sol® working with the makers of Pine-Sol® to promote the ‘Women Rise Above it’ campaign. Pine-Sol® is looking for inspiring women to share stories about how they too have risen above adversity. Please visit www.womenRiseAboveIt.com and share your story and be a beacon of hope and a light to other women who need encouragement and inspiration too.

To recognize and celebrate the remarkable women among us, Pine-Sol® is teaming up with actress and activist Rosie Perez to launch the ‘When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It’ campaign. From November 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014, women across the country are encouraged to contribute their own stories of triumph to Pine-Sol’s moving collection of stories by visiting www.womenRiseAboveIt.com.

If you have a story of perseverance, then this is your chance to share it with the world and to inspire other women who may also be going through challenges.  Also, by entering your story, you will have a chance to win many great prizes, such as:

  • Once a week for 12 weeks, Pine-Sol® will award one lucky winner small tokens of appreciation (Flower bouquet + Pine Sol coupons)
  • Three first prize winners will receive complimentary house cleaning services for a year
  • One grand prize winner will be awarded an all-inclusive trip to enjoy a peaceful spa experience at a deluxe hotel.

And leave it to Pine-Sol® to always get me through tough icky situations at home when I’m cleaning. And stay tuned because I will be sharing other stories about the people who have inspired me in my life journey and how I will teach my children to rise above tough times too.

What challenges have you faced that you were able to rise above? Please share with us below and then take a few minutes to enter the sweepstakes…after all who would not love free house cleaning for a year or a trip to a peaceful spa.

Sweepstakes Rules: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  Open to legal residents of the 50 United States & D.C. 18 years and older.  Ends 1/31/14 at 11:59 a.m. PT.  To enter and for Official Rules, including odds, and prize descriptions, visit www.womenriseaboveit.com. Void where prohibited.

This is an awesome campaign. I’m working on my story of perseverance. I have a lot of great examples though. My mom for one but there are a lot of others since I started blogging you being one of them. I think this is just great. I will definitely be checking back in.

I’m so glad you’re entering the campaign Katherine. Every woman deserves a bit of inspiration because we all handle so very much in our lives. And thank you for the kind words and for always being so supportive. You’re the best!
