I don’t talk about her often on Cincomom and many of you may not even know I have a grandbaby. But I do. And she’s an adorably chunky little bundle of joy named Madisyn Abella who is the spitting image of her momma, Kaelani, my oldest daughter. And today she’s officially a big girl – a one year old!
Madisyn and her momma live in Virginia and I don’t get to see Madisyn other than by Skype. And although I didn’t want my daughter to move away from me, it was the best decision. Because not only is Madisyn growing up with her dad around, since he lives in Virginia too, my daughter Kaelani was just accepted into Old Dominion University and will be attending school in 2013. (She finished a semester at Georgia State University with an A-average) Old Dominion is a very good school, by the way, even though her momma (me) is an NSU Spartan and ODU is our rival. LOL
But that’s okay. Kaelani’s still going to college as she raises bouncing baby Abella. But I never had doubt anyway. See, I was a 19-year-old and attending NSU even as a mom to Kaelani. And yes I graduated and got my degree despite people thinking negative as if it was impossible for me to raise a child and earn a college degree. So Kaelani my child, has my blood and my ambition. Getting through school with Abella? She’s got this!
So today December 4th is much more than a birthday celebration for my precious Abella. It’s a celebration for a young woman who makes me so proud to be HER mom. We’ve had our share of shouting matches but if nothing else, I definitely got through to her.
Kaelani you are a great mom to Madisyn, a great woman of distinction and determination and a great person with a good heart who only wants the best for your baby. If I had anything to do with you growing into this woman (which I had everything to do with, toot-toot) then God has answered ALL of my prayers. All a mother wants is the best life for her children. And that’s something you can totally relate to now 🙂
Happy Birthday Madisyn Abella. I love you bella and enjoy the BIG BOX of gifts grandma and the kids sent you!! XOXO!
