When it comes to me and my husband Rudy Smith, everyday is Valentine’s Day.
Every day we work to show how much we love and care about each other. Every day matters to me. I make sure that I am a good wife, one that is not only a domestic diva who keeps the house in order and the kids in check, but one who is kind and loving to my husband. Yes I fuss and get out of line at times because it’s just in my nature to do so, but I’m quick to apologize and accept fault and give him the love and respect that he deserves. Marriage is work. But it doesn’t have to be hard if two people are on the same page in the same car, driving down the same road. And I can say after 12 years (in July) my husband and I are definitely are on the same page and love, respect and appreciate each other for all that we are. Even though everyday is the 14th for us, it’s not everyday that we take the time to celebrate each other and our love for one another. So Valentine’s Day becomes a special day not for gift-gifting, but to express our love and appreciation for each other in a special way.
I am thankful I found and fell in love with Rudy. After seeing how many women have problems finding a good man, I sometimes even ask why did I get so lucky? Well I must say I’m good catch myself! And I am thankful that Rudy realized that early on. I was only 27 when we met and I was hardly established like I am now. But he said I was a diamond in the rough. And he could see my goodness and so he decided to snatch me up! And who knew I would find a guy that totally gets me. I have never in my almost 40 years known a person who understands me more completely than Rudy. He REALLY understands me. We get along really good outside of being husband and wife. And he is the person I trust most in the whole world. He has never said an unkind word to me – ever! And no matter how much I’ve gained over the years, he still makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world everyday. He inspires me to chase my dreams and he supports me in pursuing those dreams.
We’ve had our share of ups and downs, good and bad in 12 years, but our LOVE for each other is so strong that we are unbreakable. I know I’ll grow old with this guy for sure 🙂
And it’s that LOVE, trust, respect and reverence for one another that we will celebrate on February 14th. Some people don’t believe good marriages exist. I promise you, spend a day, a week, an hour at our house and you’ll see for yourself how real this is.
Happy Valentines Day to my honey.
