And on Friday when Iron Man 3 opens in theaters, you’ll see that she’s also a kick-ass, take charge kind of woman and quite frankly, a super hero in her own right.
And from my understanding after meeting up for an interview with People’s Mag’s Most Beautiful Woman in the World Gwyneth Paltrow, I’ve come to see that she’s got the same guts and gumption off-screen as a mom, chef at home and wife as she does on-screen playing the perky Pepper Potts.

During an interview with 25 bloggers for the Iron Man 3 Event, Gwyneth talked about food, her family, her affection for her right hand man Robert Downey Jr, and of course what it felt like suiting up for the first time in this Iron Man installment.
“I love putting on the suit,” she said emphatically. “It was really weird, like I’ve never done anything like that in my whole career, and my son was on set, and so I’ll never forget it.”
When making the Iron Man movie, Gwyneth said she was excited to learn that she would actually get to wear the suit of armor on-screen. Pepper’s nice, she said, but it meant more to her because Pepper finally got to be more fiery (pun intended, wait till you see the movie) and she definitely has more of an edge in this movie.
“I loved it so much. …all these boys are flying around doing all this fun stuff, and I loved how patient and kind and sweet Pepper is, but when I read this script, I was like, oh yeah. She’s in the suit and flying around, and I loved doing the stunts… I really had never done anything like that before. “
And although she doesn’t have any immediate plans to film a spin-off of her own, in the Iron Man comics, Pepper did end up donning her own suit and becoming a character named “Rescue.”
To that end, Gwyneth says, if they’d like her to do a spin, “I’d better hit the gym,” she joked.
I won’t reveal why she gets to wear the suit, but let’s just say it will have you jumping and cheering her on. And in the words of Alicia Keys, “THIS GIRL IS ON FIIRREEEE!” And I’ll leave it at that!
WORKING WITH RDJ
Robert Downey Jr who plays Iron Man is quite the handful as the exacting, billionaire playboy-philanthropist Tony Stark and you better believe face-to-face he’s just that finicky.
Working with him on the Iron Man set, Gwyneth said, “It’s so fun. I mean, he’s really, like, the most spontaneous, mad genius, improvising, like, you’re really on your toes. It’s really interesting, actually to see how all these different actors, what their process is and how they work.” And she admits that Robert’s process is a little different than most. She remembers during the first Iron Man movie when Jeff Bridges came in with binders of research and information and had memorized his lines oh-so perfectly… and what did Robert do? “He’d read the scene and rip it up, and be like, nope, we’re not doing it! He’s like, ‘this is bull—-.’ Let’s make it up- and poor Jeff Bridges would be dying, like, he had memorized everything.”
In the midst of reminiscing about her Iron Man experiences, Gwyneth signed 25 copies of her new cookbook called, It’s All Good for all the bloggers. And while carefully signing thank you’s on the pages she conversed with all of us as if we were old friends playing catch up. She’s very down-to-earth, relatable and approachable and it’s easy to see why she made fast-friends with Beyonce and Jay-Z. Gwyneth’s got a little swag and don’t be surprised if you catch her busting a rhyme or two. Oh yeah, she listens to hip hop and rhymes while serving up her saucy recipes.
And what does she think about the Iron Man 3 movie?
“I thought there were so many really interesting metaphors in it about the media sort of being proponents of fear and how that affects in the culture and, like, what’s real, and what’s a threat,” she said. “And I loved Robert, like, Tony Stark being really stripped back and raw and you know, having to kind of MacGyver his way back to strength and I just, I loved the relationship with Pepper and Tony.”
And so did I Gwyneth. 🙂
I will have part 2 of Gwyneth’s interview about her new cookbook, It’s all Good, coming up next week and my Iron Man 3 review out on Friday!
