What a year this has been! I mean, the school year because it today it ends for my kids in Georgia.
After having a really bad year in their old school, I moved my kids to a new school and that in itself was the best thing I could have done because this has been a remarkable year! I went from having my kids in a school where they didn’t give a damn about the kids there, to moving them to a smaller school just up the road where the small, intimate setting is close-knit, caring and filled with teachers and administrators who care a lot of the kids there.
And my Mikaela had a great year thanks to her awesome teacher Dr. Drew Nesbitt. Last year Mikaela’s teacher made her feel like she wasn’t worth a darn. Yes he did. He made her feel like she wasn’t smart and he really messed up Mikaela’s self-esteem. But God watches over babies (and even that fool who called himself a teacher) and this year Mikaela ended up in Mrs. Nesbitt’s class which was just a blessing.
Mikaela has gone from a kid who questioned her own abilities to a child who has EXCEEDED in two areas on the state CRCT test and her NEW teacher, Dr. Nesbitt, encouraged her along the way, made her feel as smart as she is and renewed her love for learning and her belief in her own abilities. It takes a SPECIAL kind of teacher, a REAL teacher, to help a child SHINE and achieve like my Mikaela has and Dr. Drew Nichols Nesbitt did just that!
Dr. Nesbitt has made all the difference for me and my child. When a child is under a teacher’s tutelage for 7.5 hours a day, that teacher is everything to them. Dr. Nesbitt does more than just teach; she cares about every nook and cranny of that child’s being.

Hold on while I take a moment to pat myself on the back!
I’m just overjoyed! Moving my kids to a new school is the best thing I could have done!
Now the year is over and summer school begins! Summer school? Yes, it’s called the SMITH SUMMER SCHOOL! LOL! Remember, I AM a teacher! I have a Master’s degree in Education and I plan to use it! I have a whole month-long school program laid out for the my kids to get them started in the next grade. (See, this is the secret why my kids are ahead of the other kids.) 🙂 It’s just a month long and two days a week we will go to the movies because they have those summer movies programs at various theaters. And we’ll be doing some fun events throughout the summer and have several trips planned.
What are your plans this summer? Let me know!
