She was the first child I had with my husband Rudy 11 years ago and she’s now a big girl who’s bright,
beautiful, artistic and smarter than any other 5th grader in her class.
Kaitlin celebrated her 11th birthday on October 9th with a few particular requests like most tweens do. She didn’t want a traditional birthday cake and opted for a yummy cookie cake. She’s too old for dolls and settled on asking us for a cellphone. Having a cellphone is like a rite of passage for a tween. She’s feeling her age and a bit like she’s coming of age.
I’m so proud of Kaitlin. She’s mature, respectful, loving and works very hard at all she does. I’m praying she stays this way. I already know how crazy teens can get when they hit 13, how the hormones rage and how their brain makes a change. I’m hoping my Kaitlin will remain the same awesome, kind artistic kid she is now. I know she will.
My daughter has grown so much from this little girl pictured on the right.
We celebrated her birthday by going to Disney on Ice. We had never been before and it was quite an amazing show! Kaitlin was very excited and in awe of the ice-skating performances! There was so much razzle and dazzle and all of our favorite Disney characters slide across the ice and impressed the audience with their stellar and smooth moves.I was surprised to see Princess Tiana too! All of the Disney princesses were there except Rapunzel, Pocahontas and Merida. And most of the most popular characters were there like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy. I was even surprised to see the Toy Story characters. And how they got that pig in Toy Story to skate on ice, I’ll never know.
It was a blast and totally satisfies your urge to go to Disney if you can’t make the trip this fall season.
I have to say I had so much fun at Disney on Ice. And the icing on the cake is the fact that Kaitlin LOVED every minute of it! They celebrated a Halloween haunt with the Disney Villains, a Very Merry Unbirthday Party with Alice and the Mad Hatter; Mardi Gras with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen; a Royal Valentine’s Day Ball with the Disney Princesses; a Hawaiian luau with Lilo & Stitch; a winter wonderland with Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear; and more in a magical medley of holidays, celebrations and festivals from around the globe.
In celebration of Kaitlin’s 11th birthday I compiled some pictures of her over the years. From my little baby girl to a beautiful tween.
Next she’ll be graduating and going to college. Where does the time go? 🙁
