I thought a nice night out on the town with my family would suffice for my birthday. But little did I know the surprise I was truly in for!
On September 19th I PARTIED like a rockstar for my 41st birthday! I didn’t expect to but I was blessed with a HUGE surprise that I will tell you about in a minute. But first let me tell you about my amazing day!
I woke up and my birthday started off with a bang. My wonderful husband Rudy bought me a Nikon D3200 professional camera — a gift I have wanted for a long time. I LOVE taking pictures. It’s a secret passion of mine.
And I have been wanting a real camera but never ventured out to buy one. Well I finally got my wish and it was the sweetest gift ever. My birthday truly could have ended right there with the camera and the Camicakes he bought me! I got these before I left for work but I was in for SOOOO much more!
Once at work I was showered with love from students! They made me beautiful cards, one student gave me roses, another a McDonald’s giftcard, another gave me an owl candle and a parent brought me lunch and my co-workers gave me a Chick-fil-A giftcard AND my husband had roses delivered! I was overwhelmed with all the love!!
Later that night Rudy had plans to take me out to a place called The Crab Boil and have dinner with him and our kids. So I thought it would be a nice easy night out and then we’d head back home. He surprised me with a cake but that wasn’t all.
So the host Sasha the Diva from the local radio station asked everyone with a birthday to come to the floor. Next thing you know I looked out the corner of my eye and saw some woman running toward me. My mind couldn’t process what was going on and when I finally did I was overwhelmed and truly surprised to see my MOTHER Janice and Aunt Mert come all the way from PHILLY to Georgia for my birthday and my Aunt Candy!!! THAT WAS THE BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER!!! Unbelievable!
And the night didn’t end there! We met up with my cousins, Delores and Tresa and headed over to Chef Rob’s Carribean Cafe and partied FOR REAL! And I mean we REALLY jammed like nobody’s business!!
I truly had an amazing birthday with my family and just can’t believe how much fun it was especially since I wasn’t expecting it.
When I think back over my life, I am proud and happy for every bruise, scratch, pitfall and obstacle that propelled me to where I am today. Without my family and those experiences I would have never survived.
I’ve had the toughest of times, even in recent months, but God has always made a way. And today I stand here, unbothered because the devil is a lie and I LIVE! I am living in the BEST moment of my life! So happy to have celebrated another birthday!
