**UPDATE: The winner of the Peachtree Junior ticket is Nakeya Simmons! Congratulations!
My kids are running machines, and there’s nothing we love more than to sprint, run and race. For the first time this year, we’re taking our talents to the 2016 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Peachtree Junior on May 14th!
You might have heard of Peachtree from the AJC Peachtree Road Race, where adults and kids ages 10 and older celebrate the Fourth of July with 60,000 others at the world’s largest 10K. What I didn’t know is that kids can burn rubber, too! For the last 30 years, Peachtree Junior has provided kids with the experience, excitement and prestige of the AJC Peachtree Road Race in a safe and noncompetitive environment. It features a 3K fun run for kids ages 7-14, a 1/2K for ages 5-9 and 50m dash for ages 6 & under. Plus, for the first time, the 3K will provide finish times for all participants!
This is perfect for my kids: Mikaela age 12, Rudolph age 7, and Milan age 9, have been running all spring season in track events across Atlanta. For those who have been asking me what’s the best way to get your kids started in track—this event is it! The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Peachtree Junior is an event for kids of all ages. So that means if your little 4-year-old rips and runs and shows some potential as a future sprinter, come on out and sign your baby up to get a taste of track.
After completing the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia Peachtree Junior, participants are invited to enjoy a post-race festival on the Active Oval. Kids can participate in a kid-friendly decathlon and learn about different track and field events from special guest, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Dan O’Brien. How exciting! I’ll have an interview with Dan O’Brien coming up!
Getting my kids involved in track was the best decision I ever made. We’re going three years strong as a track and field family and winning medals along the way at local events. The best way to introduce your kids to the excitement of running is to get them involved in fun events like Peachtree Junior that offer age appropriate distances, allow them to run with friends, and provide the chance to learn from and get motivated by athletes like Dan O’Brien.
Atlanta Track Club’s mission is to create an active and healthy Atlanta through running and walking. With more than 24,000 members, it is the second largest running organization in the United States. Throughout the year, they deliver world-class events, training programs, and community outreach activities to the Metro Atlanta area, including the popular (and free) Kilometer Kids youth running program. Atlanta Track Club encourages and inspires both kids and adults to start and continue running regardless of ability or fitness level and provides outlets for all athletes to continue to grow and compete.

I would LOVE for my child to run in the Peachtree Jr. for 3 reasons.
1. She loves to run!
2. She has ran in a rec league but I want to expose her to a different type of running event
3. I want her to be able to also have fun
I would like to sign up my daughter Alissa for the race and would LOVE to use this registration. She would be so excited about it.
YASSS! This would be great! I ran the Peachtree Road Race last year and I was looking forward to the Peachtree Junior for my babies!
