I got to see Deborah Cox as Rachel Marron in “The Bodyguard” at the Fox in Atlanta and from the opening of the show with a BANG, the show as a thrill!
The Grammy nominated performer is starring in a new North American tour of the musical. “The Bodyguard,” is based on the classic 1992 romantic thriller starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. It follows Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, who is hired to protect music superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
The show features a variety of hit songs from the movie including “Queen of the Night,” “I Have Nothing,” and “Run to You” as well as a number of Houston hits like “So Emotional,” “One Moment in Time,” “Saving All My Love,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and one of the biggest selling songs of all time – “I Will Always Love You.”
This is not the first time Cox has performed these songs. She was the singing voice for Lifetime’s 2015 Whitney Houston biopic, “WHITNEY!” Take a look at this behind-the-scenes video of her in the studio.
Deborah COx is just as flippant and sassy as Whitney was in the movie playing Rachel Marron. She does a superb job and her vocals are so on pint which makes the experience even better. I truly enjoyed ever minute and don’t leave before the VERY end because it was an all-out dance party! Get it Deborah! She killed it! Great job. I LOVED the show! Go see it!
